Founded in 1975 by Jerome Hantman, what is now Cardiovascular Specialists of Central Maryland, a Community Specialty Practice of Johns Hopkins Medicine, has grown to be the single largest cardiology practice based in Howard County, with 9 Board-Certified Cardiologists, 2 Physician Assistants, and over 40 clinical and administrative support staff. We offer a full range of personalized consultative and diagnostic cardiovascular care, including:

Adult cardiac consultations and follow-up care
Exercise and pharmacologic cardiac stress testing
Nuclear cardiology testing (accredited by ICANL*)
Echocardiography (accredited by ICAEL*), transesophageal echo and stress echo

* The accreditation of our nuclear cardiology, echocardiography, and vascular ultrasound programs by the respective Intersocietal Commission accrediting bodies (ICANL, ICAEL and ICAVL), is awarded to such cardiology programs only after a rigorous review of our policies, procedures, and study of technical quality and professional interpretation accuracy. This accreditation assures referring physicians and patients of our cardiovascular specialists high standards and expertise in cardiovascular diagnostic testing modalities. Our cardiologists and cardiovascular experts also offer complete interventional cardiac care, including:

As part of our commitment to being on the forefront of current developments in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, our cardiovascular specialists have a full-time clinical research department that is currently conducting over a dozen clinical research trials. Since 2004, we have utilized a state-of-the-art, cardiology-specific EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system that makes a patient's clinical chart available instantly to his or her cardiologists at any time of day or night, offering our cardiology patients increased efficiency and responsiveness.
